Boy 'wins' a girlfriend
If a bunch of nerds sat in a room and decided to make a movie, they would make something very similar to "scott pilgrim VS the world". This is one of the most unique/weirdest/best movies I've ever seen.
I mentioned nerds because this movie is directed by the nerd-god himself, 'Edgar Wright' (Read his name with a british accent). He has directed only 6 movies and all of them fall under my list of favourites.
But, this is about "scott pilgrim VS the world".
Until this movie came out(2010), Edgar wasn't the nerd-god. He was just an acclaimed filmmaker. But, this movie made him the nerd-god because this movie is based on a graphic novel series and he made sure that he put below things in the movie:
-Michael Cera (duh....the most-loved actor by nerds)
- awesome rock songs,
- video game themes,
- best fight sequences,
- Girls with bangs on their forehead,
and if you're a nerd, you obviously like the above things. I know I like them🤷🏻♂️(Please don't judge me).
Enough with the nerd appeasement, let's focus on the good things and obviously I am not going to mention anything about the plot/story.
1)Visuals:
This movie is epitome of "visual comedy". What is visual comedy? It is making something funny using music and camera movement and not using actors to say the dialogues but using them to act in a funny way.
Example: a clip where a man slips on a banana peel is funnier than a man telling everyone that he slipped on a banana peel.
The visuals and the VFX are so good that I'm glad this movie was not in 3D or I would've had a heart attack if I saw it in 3D.
Edgar has maxed-out the 2D frame in every frame of this movie.
2) Action:
Even though this movie is a comedy, it has some seriously good action sequences and I can't stress enough on the word 'good'.
They are as good as any Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee movies that you've seen. Along with the kickass action, Edgar has addedvvideo game effects like 'pow', 'reverse', etc which only make these action sequences better.
3)Music:
Michael Cera's character is in a band and boy, do we get to hear some awesome bass solos in this movie!!!
I promise you will save at least 2 songs from this movie and listen to it over and over.
So, fans of rock music will love this movie and others will improve their taste and become fans of rock music.
All these aspects have made this movie a modern-day cult.
When you see this movie, you would definitely want to know more about Edgar Wright and how he has established himself as a path-breaking filmmaker in the world of movie-clichés.
Hope this excites you to watch this movie.
PS:
If you do decide to see the film, get ready to
1)be blown away by the amazing "music" battle.
2)come out with a huge crush on Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Bro Out.
