We use Oxygen, Baby uses Music

My favourite genre of movies is 'Musicals'. But, I have watched so many good musicals that I realised they have become repetitive. There are only 2 types: Either the songs in the movies are used as symbolic themes to the plot/theme of the movie like 'Rockstar'(FYI, Ranbir Kapoor is GOD). OR The characters just sing out the story or what they are feeling like 'La La Land'(or any other Hollywood musical) But, in 2017, the nerd-god 'Edgar Wright' made a movie which redefined the genre of musicals. That movie is 'Baby Driver'. This movie basically says, "hey guys, we know you guys like to watch good movies with good music. So, let's just have a lead character who listens to music all the time. This way, the movie will be more entertaining and you will get to listen to the songs wholly". And I just love this idea. 'Baby Driver' is that kind of a movie which you can watch a 100 times and still not be bored by it. What...

Boy 'wins' a girlfriend

If a bunch of nerds sat in a room and decided to make a movie, they would make something very similar to "scott pilgrim VS the world". This is one of the most unique/weirdest/best movies I've ever seen. I mentioned nerds because this movie is directed by the nerd-god himself, 'Edgar Wright' (Read his name with a british accent). He has directed only 6 movies and all of them fall under my list of favourites. But, this is about "scott pilgrim VS the world". Until this movie came out(2010), Edgar wasn't the nerd-god. He was just an acclaimed filmmaker. But, this movie made him the nerd-god because this movie is based on a graphic novel series and he made sure that he put below things in the movie: -Michael Cera (duh....the most-loved actor by nerds) - awesome rock songs, - video game themes, - best fight sequences, - Girls with bangs on their forehead, and if you're a nerd, you obviously like the above things. I know I like them🤷🏻‍♂️(Ple...

Premam - The Good Things

Image
Making a good romantic movie is a very difficult job. The story is always going to come across as a cliché because at the end of the day, it is always going to be boy-meets-girl...wait.. it can be boy-meets-boy or girl-meets-girl (Don't wanna offend THE community). So, the story is always going to be person-meets-person, person falls in love with person, and the stuff that happens before falling in love and after falling in love. Boring, isn't it? So, how do you make the movie interesting and engaging despite the banal story?  Well, watch this movie called "Premam" and you will know how. Premam has kind of the same story but the director takes this story and focuses on the story-telling. The Director, by the way, his name is "Alphonso Puthren". I have watched his movies so many times that I kind of think I know him personally. So, I'll call him "Alfie". To give a generic review of 'Premam', the movie is awesome. The story, the mu...
